NGC 4118 (also MCG 7-25-28 and PGC 38507) is a magnitude +14.6 spiral galaxy located 30 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by Irish astronomer R. J. Mitchell, assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 20th April 1857.
