NGC 6017 (also MCG 1-41-3, UGC 10098 and PGC 56475) is a magnitude +13.2 spiral galaxy located 75 million light-years away in the constellation Serpens.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 45.72 cm (18 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 24th April 1830.
