NGC 5434 (also NGC 5434A, MCG 2-36-22, UGC 8965 and PGC 50077) is a magnitude +13.2 edge-on spiral galaxy located 259 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel using a 27.94 cm (11 inch) f/19 refractor at the Arcetri Observatory on the 25th April 1883.
