NGC 4187 (also NGC 4187A, MCG 9-20-117, UGC 7229 and PGC 39004) is a magnitude +13.2 elliptical galaxy located 420 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 26th April 1789.
