NGC 5582 (also MCG 7-29-63, UGC 9188 and PGC 51251) is a magnitude +11.6 elliptical galaxy located 63 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 29th April 1788.
