NGC 4701 (also IRAS 12466+0339, MCG 1-33-15, UGC 7975 and PGC 43331) is a magnitude +12.4 face-on spiral galaxy located 33 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 30th April 1786.
