NGC 5047 (also MCG -3-34-36 and PGC 46150) is a magnitude +12.8 lenticular galaxy located 86 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 7th May 1787.
