NGC 5394 (also Arp 84, IRAS 13564+3741, MCG 6-31-33, UGC 8898 and PGC 49739) is a magnitude +13.0 interacting spiral galaxy located 159 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici. The galaxy is gravitationally interacting with the neighbouring galaxy NGC 5395: these two galaxies are listed as Arp 84 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies by Halton Arp.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector Windsor Road, Slough, on the 16th May 1787.
