NGC 5945 (also IRAS 15280+4305, MCG 7-32-17, UGC 9871 and PGC 55243) is a magnitude 12.8 spiral galaxy located 254 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by French astronomer Edouard Jean-Marie Stephan using a 80.01 cm (31.5 inch) reflecting telescope at the Marseille Observatory on the 12th June 1880.
