NGC 5837 (also IRAS 15022+1249, MCG 2-38-36, UGC 9686 and PGC 53817) is a magnitude +14.0 barred spiral galaxy located 396 million light-years away in the constellation Boötes.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 19th June 1887.
