NGC 6230 (also MCG 1-43-5, UGC 10575 and PGC 59106) is a magnitude +14.4 elliptical galaxy located 427 million light-years away in the constellation Hercules.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 3rd July 1886.
