NGC 6699 (also ESO 183-21, IRAS 18477-5722 and PGC 62512) is a magnitude +12.0 barred spiral galaxy located 156 million light-years away in the constellation Pavo.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflecting telescope at the Cape of Good Hope on the 12th July 1834.
