NGC 7040 (also IRAS 21108+0839, MCG 1-54-4, UGC 11701 and PGC 66366) is a magnitude +14.0 face-on spiral galaxy located 281 million light-years away in the constellation Equuleus.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Mark Walrod Harrington using a 31.75 cm (12.5 inch) Fitz refractor of the University of Michigan Observatory on the 18th August 1882.
