NGC 7400 (also ESO 290-22, IRAS 22514-4536 and PGC 69967) is a magnitude +12.9 spiral galaxy located 138 million light-years away in the constellation Grus.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 (6.4 m focal length) speculum reflecting telescope reflecting telescope at Feldhausen, Claremont, Cape Town on the 6th September 1834.
