NGC 74 (MCG 5-1-71 and PGC 1219) is a magnitude +14.8 spiral galaxy located 326 million light-years in the constellation of Andromeda.
The galaxy was discovered by R. J. Mitchell, astronomical assistant to William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, using a 182.88 cm (72 inch) speculum reflector at Birr Castle on the 7th October 1855.
