NGC 240 (also MCG 1-3-1, UGC 473 and PGC 2653) is a magnitude +13.7 spiral galaxy located 562 million light-years away in the constellation Pisces.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 22nd October 1886.
