NGC 577 (also NGC 580, MCG 6-50-15 and PGC 5628) is a magnitude +12.9 barred spiral galaxy located 273 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Aaron Nichols Skinner, assistant of Truman Safford, using a 46.99 cm (18.5-inch) refractor at the Dearborn Observatory on the 23rd October 1867.
The galaxy was rediscovered by Wilhelm Tempel in August 1877 and relisted as NGC 580.
