NGC 1138 (also MCG 7-7-12, UGC 2408 and PGC 11118) is a magnitude +13.0 barred spiral galaxy located 107 million light-years away in the constellation Phoenix.
The galaxy was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road in Slough, Berkshire, on the 24th October 1786.
