Asteroid 2010 ML48 Named for Nobel Prize Winner Joins Historic Lineup

An asteroid discovered by NASA's NEOWISE spacecraft has been given the formal designation 316201 Malala, in honour of Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. The asteroid's previous appellation was 2010 ML48.Read more

Malala Yousafzai gets her own asteroid

The unusual honour comes courtesy of NASA's Amy Mainzer, who discovered the rock, previously known as 316201, in 2010.
