NGC 3788 (also MCG 5-28-9, PGC 36160, UGC 6623, and Arp 294 (with NGC 3786)) is a magnitude +12.6 spiral galaxy located 124 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. The galaxy is gravitationally interacting with the neighbouring galaxy NGC 3786: these two galaxies are listed as Arp 294 in the Atlas of peculiar galaxies by Halton Arp.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 29th April 1827.
