NGC 4959 (also MCG 6-29-29 and PGC 45301) is a magnitude +14.5 face-on spiral galaxy located 449 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 29th April 1827.
