NGC 5166 (also NGC 5166A, IRAS 13259+3217, MCG 5-32-26, UGC 8463 and PGC 47234) is a magnitude +13.5 spiral galaxy located 214 million light-years away in the constellation Canes Venatici.
The galaxy was discovered by British astronomer John Herschel using a 47.5 cm (18.7 inch) f/13 speculum reflector at Windsor Road, Slough, on the 29th April 1827.
