NGC 4991 (also PGC 45604) is a magnitude +14.7 face-on spiral galaxy located 784 million light-years away in the constellation Virgo.
The galaxy was discovered by German astronomer Albert Marth using a 121.92 cm (48 inch) speculum reflector at William Lassell's Tigné Point observatory in Sliema, Malta, on the 30th April 1864.
