We have another asteroid in the sky, bearing the name of the Pole. As of now, the asteroid number 114025 will bear the name of the Polish astronomer Jerzy Krzesinski. Dr. Krzesinski works in the Department of Astronomy, Pedagogical University in Kraków and is employed by the U.S. New Mexico State University at Apache Point Observatory. The asteroid was discovered on October 30, 2002 by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey at Apache Point Observatory. Initially it was designated 2002 UC63, and after determining its orbit it received the number 114025. Now it has received a verbal name and will be denoted as (114025) Krzesinski. Read more
