NGC 6246 (IRAS 16488+5537, MCG 9-27-98, UGC 10580 and PGC 59077) is a magnitude +13.6 barred spiral galaxy located 245 million light-years away in the constellation Draco.
The galaxy was discovered by American astronomer Lewis A. Swift using a 40.6 cm (16 inch) Alvan Clark and Sons refractor at the Warner Observatory, East Avenue, Rochester, New York, on the 28th June 1886.
