Sea Launch AG and EchoStar Satellite Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of EchoStar Corp. have announced that Sea Launch has been identified as the intended launch services provider for the launch of a satellite from the ocean-based Odyssey launch platform in 2015. Read more

Sea Launch to provide Backup Launch Services for AsiaSat.
Sea Launch AG (Sea Launch) and Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (AsiaSat) have recently entered into an option agreement covering launch services utilizing the Sea Launch Zenit 3SL launch system. The agreement provides an option which AsiaSat may exercise for the launch of a future AsiaSat satellite on Sea Launch. Sea Launch will provide AsiaSat with an integrated schedule assurance plan in support of AsiaSat's satellite deployment plan. Read more

The company that lofts big telecommunications satellites from a converted oil rig in the Pacific Ocean is preparing for its first flight since emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Right now, that rig, known as Odyssey, is positioned in waters at 154 degrees West Longitude. Sea Launch Company has successfully completed its Chapter 11 reorganization process, effective October 27, 2010. As part of the court-approved Plan of Reorganization, Energia Overseas Limited (EOL), a Russian corporation, will have acquired a majority ownership of the reorganized Sea Launch entity. The Plan of Reorganisation was approved by Judge Brendan Shannon, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware, on July 27, 2010. The successor entity, Sea Launch S.a.r.l., will be responsible for corporate functions at its operations headquarters and will maintain some assets at Sea Launch Home Port, in the Port of Long Beach, in Southern California. Sea Launch Company, a leading provider of launch services to the commercial satellite industry, has entered into an agreement with Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited ("AsiaSat"), for the launch of an AsiaSat satellite to geosynchronous transfer orbit, on the Sea Launch system. AsiaSat will assign the mission at a later date for a launch to be executed between 2012 and 2014. It will be carried out on Sea Launch's reliable Zenit-3SL launch system, from its equatorial launch site at 154 degrees West Longitude, in international waters of the Pacific Ocean. Read more

Sea Launch Company LLC, a leading provider of launch services to the commercial satellite industry, has filed a Plan of Reorganisation (the "Plan") with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, in preparation for its emergence from Chapter 11. Sea Launch filed voluntary petitions to reorganise under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on June 22, 2009. Pursuant to the terms of the Plan, Energia Overseas Limited (EOL) will purchase 85% of the stock in the reorganised Sea Launch in exchange for an equity investment of $140 million. EOL will also provide Sea Launch with access to a working capital facility in the amount of $200 million. EOL is a joint venture company collaborating with RSC Energia, a founding Sea Launch partner with lead responsibility as a key supplier and manager of rocket operations. The remaining 15% stake in the company will be owned by Sea Launchs unsecured creditors. Read more
Space corporation Energia has received preliminary approval from a U.S. court to pay the operating costs of bankrupt consortium Sea Launch, possibly with the intention of purchasing the company. The specially created Energia subsidiary Energia Overseas Limited, or EOL, will help Sea Launch out of bankruptcy. Sea Launch, which launches satellites from an offshore platform, filed for bankruptcy in Delaware on June 22, 2009. Read more
