Messier 80 (also known as M80 or NGC 6093) is a magnitude +7.87 globular cluster located 32,600 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius.

The cluster was discovered by French astronomer Charles Messier using a 10 cm (4 inch) refracting telescope at the Hôtel de Cluny (now the Musée national du Moyen Age), in Paris, France, on the 4th January 1781.

On May 21, 1860, a nova was discovered in M80 that attained a magnitude of +7.0. The nova, variable star designation T Scorpii, reached an absolute magnitude of -8.5, briefly outshining the entire cluster.
