Hubble Nets a Subtle Swarm

This Hubble image shows NGC 4789A, a dwarf irregular galaxy in the constellation of Coma Berenices. It certainly lives up to its name - the stars that call this galaxy home are smeared out across the sky in an apparently disorderly and irregular jumble, giving NGC 4789A a far more subtle and abstract appearance than its glitzy spiral and elliptical cousins.

NGC 4789A (also DDO 154, 2MASX J12540524+2708586, UGC 8024, MCG 5-30-120 and PGC 43869) is a magnitude +13.9 irregular dwarf galaxy located 14 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices.
The galaxy may be a member of the M64/M94 group.
The discovered of the galaxy by Canadian astronomer Sidney van den Bergh was published in 1959.
The name NGC 4789A comes the apparent proximity to the galaxy NGC 4789; However, it is not listed in the New General Catalogue.

Right ascension 12h 54m 05.2s, Declination +27° 08' 59"

The DDO catalogue (David Dunlap Observatory) is a catalogue of 243 dwarf galaxies (1959-1966) by Canadian astronomer Sidney van den Bergh.
