On 2017 May 09 UT, the 48 km diameter asteroid (2235) Vittore will occult a 8.1 mag star in the constellation Virgo for observers along a path across SW USA, Mexico, Brazil.
Asteroid (2235) Vittore (A924 GA) is a 44.45 km wide main belt asteroid discovered by German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth on April 5, 1924 from the Heidelberg-Königstuhl Observatory , Germany. Vittore was initially designated as A924 GA. It was rediscovered in 1979 by the San Vittore observatory, in Bologna; and in 1980, it was named in honour of the Italian observatory.
The absolute magnitude of Vittore is 10.6. It has a rotation period of 32.1 hours. Its albedo is estimated at 0.0469.
