As the AmigaOS version of PureBasic is not actively supported anymore, the author has decided to open as much code as he could do. Therefore, the whole commandset of PureBasic (beware, written completely in 680x0 assembly), the IDE and some other tools are available for modification. As the compiler source is shared between all the versions of PureBasic, it remains closed. If you do a bug fix, an improvement or anything else which could make PureBasic for AmigaOS better, don't hesitate to send him your patch, it will be included in the next release. The compiler has been ported using the latest v4.00 branch, so he will support any future version of the compiler, but without implementing CPU specific features. For example, the "Macros" are available on AmigaOS 4.00 compiler, as it's a compiler feature, but "quad" and "double" are not, as they need a CPU specific implementation.
At the moment, Dream17 is very generously hosted on a server maintained by our resident Worms Correspondent, Cyclaws. However at some point during next year, Cyclaws will be shutting his server down because he can't afford it. At some point next year, Dream17 will once again be moving servers. For the first time since its inception nearly three years ago, someone will have to actually pay for its hosting. They need some donations. Dream17, with the permission of Team 17 have made available their range of Amiga titles. This means that you can download almost every single Team 17 Amiga title for use either on an Amiga system or an emulator.
