Brian May joins Astronomy magazine's Editorial Advisory Board

It isn't every day that a legend joins with Astronomy magazine, so the brand is proud to announce that astronomer, songwriter, producer, and performer Brian May has joined the magazine's Editorial Advisory Board. May, 64, is of course known around the world as .... a Ph.D. astronomer, having studied astrophysics at Imperial College London.

Despite his Ph.D. and scholarly authorship, Brian May's rock and roll is thankfully still intact.
During a recent lecture at the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Auditorium at the Los Angeles Griffith Observatory, May - the former Queen lead guitarist turned lettered astrophysicist -  walked on stage wearing a black coat, tails and white sneakers, signature curly mop sitting atop his head. His appearance pleased the many Queen fans in the audience.

Queues formed in Paignton as Queen guitar legend and top star gazer Brian May called into Paignton for a book signing.
The musician and astrophysicist came to the Bay on Saturday to launch the paperback edition of international bestseller Bang - The Complete History of the Universe.
He was joined by his two co-authors, top astronomer and Sky at Night presenter Sir Patrick Moore, and his co-presenter Chris Lintott, who is a former student of Torquay Boys Grammar School.

Brian May, lead guitarist for Queen and the author of the stadium anthem "We Will Rock You," was awarded his PhD this year in astrophysics from Imperial College London. Now his first book, "Bang! The Complete History of the Universe," written with astronomer Sir Patrick Moore and astrophysicist Chris Lintott, is being released in the U.S.

Queen guitarist Brian May is due to present his newly finished thesis, entitled Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud, before the examining board at Imperial College, London, on 23 August.
May conducted the last astronomical observations in support of his thesis on the island of La Palma in Spain's Canary Islands several days ago.
