The 1600 metre wide comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova will make a close pass (23.4 lunar distances, 0.0601 AU), travelling at 24.63 km/second, to the Earth-Moon system on the 15th August, 2011 @ 07:36 UT ±00:01.
The comet will make a close pass (0.0601 AU, 8,990,000 km) to the Earth-Moon system on the 15th August, 2011. The comet is a possible parent body of the Chi Capricornids meteor shower.
This comet is currently in Aries heading towards Taurus. It was first observed in the Southern Hemisphere at 11.4 mag on June 6, by Michael Mattiazzo. It will not be visible in the Northern Hemisphere.
