An alert has been sounded in Surat, Bharuch, Kheda, Narmada, Anand and Vadodara districts of Gujarat as the Narmada dam is reportedly overflowing.
The inflow is expected to go up by 3-4 times over the next 24 hours.
Movement of heavy vehicles heading for cities beyond Surat and national highway 8 have been restricted till further notice.
