There are two eclipses this month, but only one, a partial lunar eclipse on the 7th, is visible from Europe. Unfortunately, the event is already half over by the time of sunset and moonrise for the UK. Mid-eclipse is at 19:51 BST with only the northern 19% of the Moon's disk covered by the umbra (the central dark shadow from the Earth). The partial phase ends as the Moon leaves the last of the umbra at 20:38 BST when its is only 5° above the eastern horizon. the outer light penumbral shadow departs the lunar surface at about 22:00 BST.
