A bright Magnitude 13.5 supernova, 2008fp, was discovered by the Chilean Automated Supernova search (CHASE) on the 7th September, 2008, in the Seyfert galaxy ESO 428-G14 in the constellation Canis Major. The supernova is located 17".5 east and 2".1 south from the centre of the galaxy. As yet the type is unknown.
