Fourteen people climbed a narrow staircase up to the roof of the Science Building to take a closer look at the stars during the grand opening of the John C. Hook Memorial Observatory Tuesday.
Students and faculty gathered on the roof of the Science Building Thursday night for the reopening of the John C. Hook Memorial Observatory. Equipped with hot chocolate and warm coats, observers watched as the teleprompter on the department's newly repaired, research grade, 14-inch telescope scanned the sky for stars.
John Hook Memorial Observatory to reopen A freshman with an interest in looking to the stars is now helping to reopen the John Hook Memorial Observatory at Indiana State Universitys campus. The grand opening of the observatory is set for 6 p.m. Thursday. The observatory is on the roof of Science Building. In case of inclement weather, a presentation will be staged in the Science Building.
