Clanfield Observatory has come up with a host of events to coincide with the first International Year of Astronomy. This year, 2009, is the 400th anniversary of the first astronomical use of a telescope by Galileo to study the night sky. The Spring Moon Watch from March 28 to April 5 is the best time of year to observe the very young waxing crescent moon and then watch its day-by-day changing phase pass through the first quarter.
