A magnitude 14.6 supernova, 2009ev, was discovered by C. Colesanti, C. Jacques, E. Pimentel, and T. Napoleao, (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) on the 27th May, 2009, in the spiral (SBa) galaxy NGC 5026 in the constellation Centaurus. The supernova is located 45" east and 78" south from the center of the galaxy. As yet the type is unknown.
