A former Michigan man is seeking anyone in the Sault Ste. Marie area who may have witnessed anything unusual in the skies Sept. 1. According to numerous accounts, a massive fireball streaked across the upper part of Michigan's lower peninsula shortly after 9 p.m. Dozens of witnesses describe it alternately growing green and red, and leaving a trail of glowing fragments as it travelled eastward.
Alexander Hanchar was in midsentence on his cell phone when he saw the strange green light glowing in the night sky Tuesday. At first glance, it looked like a bright green firework. But the light never fell back down to the ground.
