Don't be alarmed if you've noticed people traipsing through fields south of town carrying golf clubs with the heads removed.
It's all in the name of science.
On Sept. 25 at 9:03 p.m., the sky lit up with a fireball that scientists believe crashed somewhere in a 12-square-kilometre patch of land near the edge of the Niagara Escarpment above Grimsby.

The fireball was seen widely by observers throughout southern Ontario and adjacent areas. The fireball was first detected by Western's camera systems at an altitude of 100km over Guelph moving southeastwards at 20.8 km/s. The meteoroid was initially the size of a child's tricycle. At its brightest, the fireball was approximately 100 times as bright as the full moon.

Andrea Lavigne was driving west on Carling Ave. near Britannia Rd. Friday night when a large ball of white fell from the sky just over the horizon.
It was about 9 p. m. and she was on the phone with her husband who was at work at the Adobe building in Little Italy.
Before Lavigne could finish saying "Something just fell from the sky," one of her husband's co-workers said "holy feck" because he saw the same mysterious shape.
