China mengalami hujan meteor terbesar pekan ini. Pencarian hujan meteor itu berlanjut saat bulan purnama yang dikatakan sebagai salah satu penemuan terbesar di Beijing tahun ini.
Saksi mata di Beijing dan Tianjin mengamati dalam jarak dekat dan jelas meteorit turun di dekat cakrawala barat Beijing pada pukul 10.23 pada Rabu (16/12) berbentuk seperti bola api.
Kamera pengintai dari planetarium merekam cuplikan 2 detik dari fenomena musim gugur, di mana bintang jatuh yang cerah terlihat membawa ekor terbang ke arah timur dan meledak menjadi cahaya yang lebih besar sebelum menghilang di cakrawala.

Scientists have estimated an approximate location of the landing in the Baihuashan mountainous region near the Beijing border.
According to international meteorite guidelines, If a meteorite is observed while falling and recovered from the place of fall, its called a 'fall' meteorite. Therefore, this discovery will be viewed as a 'fall'.

The search continues for a full moon-bright meteoroid likely to have landed in west suburban Beijing on Wednesday in what astronomers said could lead to one of the biggest discoveries in Beijing this year.
Witnesses in Beijing and nearby Tianjin recorded a clearly visible fireball-like meteorite descending near the west horizon of Beijing at 10:23 pm on Dec 16.

Fireball brighter than the full moon in the West suburb of Beijing

Yesterday, a fireball was observed, with a possibility that meteorites fell in Beijing. In order to determine the specific location of the meteorite fall, the Beijing Planetarium are currently seeking witnesses.
