A fireball, thought to be a meteorite, was spotted in the sky by people from all over the island of Ireland at about 1800 GMT on Wednesday. People in Armagh, Craigavon and Omagh reported sightings to the police, and it was also seen on the Glenshane Pass. Read more
David Moore of Astronomy Ireland said there was an excellent chance the rock had landed inland, but that it would be very hard to pinpoint it. The meteorite could have been the size of a football or a house, but it was hard to estimate at such an early stage. Read more
