The National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) and the National Polices Central Forensic Laboratory (PUSLABFOR) confirm that the massive explosion destroying three houses on Jl Delima 6 RT (Neighbourhood Unit) 01/ RW (Community Unit) 05, Malakasari, Durensawit, East Jakarta, Thursday afternoon (4/29) was caused by material outside the house; but they are still unable to conclude whether the material is a falling meteor.

However, police could not immediately say whether it was meteor or not as tests would be conducted on samples collected at the site where the specimens had fallen.
Police would also work closely with the Indonesian Space Observation Board to find out if the mystery substances contained chemicals from outer space.

Close Encounters of the Meteorite Kind for East Jakarta Residents

Scientists and members of the elite antiterrorism military unit Densus 88 rubbed shoulders on Friday as a crowd of government officials and experts descended on an East Jakarta house after it was apparently struck by an object from outer space, possibly a meteorite.
One house sustained moderate damage and two adjoining properties minor damage after the impact on Jalan Delima II in Duren Sawit on Thursday. There were no reported casualties.
