As long as men have watched the skies, meteorites, have held a special fascination. The Fitzwater Pass Meteorite, announced this week, was found near Lakeview. It is not very big. However, others, like the legendary Willamette Meteorite, are more than 15 tons. Or the Goose Lake Iron, at 2,500 pounds, could hardly fit in your pocket. Nor could the Klamath Falls Meteorite, found in Antelope Valley near Swan Lake, in 1952. It was found by a man named Jack Halsell while logging, who said it was the heaviest rock he'd ever found.
