On Sunday October 16, 2005, Dennis Asher discovered a large Franconia impact area of about 800 square feet in Arizona. The meteorite hunter recovered 112 pieces with a weight of 18,272 grams. On Monday October 17, 2005, Jerry Baird recovered 452 pieces with a weight of 7, 265 grams and Buddy Ortego recovered 34 pieces with a weight of 871 grams. The total weight recovered from this one site is 26,408 grams consisting of 598 pieces. Also recovered from the impact hole were 10 small irons with a total weight of 8.1 grams. If the meteorite were in one piece, Dennis Asher believes it would have been the largest single stony chondrite discovered in Arizona to date.
