The supernova has been confirmed as a Type Ia, that reached Magnitude 12.4

Incidentally, a type Ic supernova, 1994ai , was discovered by Martin Williams, also in NGC 908, on December 20th, 1994.

The starburst galaxy NGC908 is located 65 million light years away in the constellation Cetus.

The magnitude 12.5 Supernova 2006ce, was discovered on May 10th, 2006 by Berto Monard in the 10.8 magnitude spiral galaxy NGC 908 in the constellation Cetus, located 136" west and 28" south of the nucleus of the galaxy.

Position(2000): R.A. = 02h22m54s.63, Dec. = -21°14'29".4

As yet the Type is unknown.
