James Doohan, the actor who played Scotty the chief engineer in the original “Star Trek'' TV series died on Wednesday 1230 GMT at his Redmond, Washington, home with his wife of 28 years, Wende.
He was 85.
He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2004.
